General guidelines:
A two-way hiking route starting and ending in the village of Malko Gradishte. Ideal for a full-day hike to Mount Sheynovets in the Gorata Ridge of the Eastern Rhodopes, at an elevation of 703.6 m.
Description:
For the first 2.5 km, the trail runs at the foot of the Gorata Ridge, after which it starts climbing. After 2.7 km, you reach the ridge, which you follow almost horizontally for another 1.7 km. The final 3 km are a gradual climb to the summit itself. In this section, before the summit, there is a water fountain.
Before the final 3 km, there is a turn-off leading to a Thracian tomb. The tomb is marked on the route and visiting it is optional, as you need to leave the main route and then return to it, adding 1.5 km.
Accents
Take enough water with you, especially during the warm season. There is a water fountain on the route shortly before reaching Mount Sheynovets.
The route is suitable for physically active people. It is recommended to wear shoes with deep treads, carry a backpack with food and water for the day, a hat and a small first-aid kit. Trekking poles are also recommended.
Malko Gradishte has shops, a small market and a guesthouse with a swimming pool.
