Defile Eco-trail
One-day hiking route, starting and finishing point in Harmanli, Harmanli destination
For the first 1.1 km, the route follows the left bank of the Harmanliyska River, after which the river is crossed via a suspension bridge and the route continues along its right bank. It gradually climbs towards the Prikazkite complex and then follows the river for a short distance. At 2.7 km from the start is Dyado Todorova Spring, reached by a trail through an exceptionally scenic area.
After the spring, the terrain opens up and the route continues along unpaved roads through cultivated fields, crosses the embankment of a small reservoir and heads back towards Harmanli. The return route runs east of the Defile forest and parallel to the main road. From the reservoir to the end point of the route is 4 km.
Accents
The route is located in the eastern part of the Defile Protected Area, formed along the Harmanliyska River. The vegetation consists mainly of ash and alder.
The route runs entirely along trails and unpaved roads. No asphalt. There is a spring.
