Every year on St Demetrius Day, the residents of Ustrem village in Topolovgrad Municipality celebrate their traditional village festival with a rich programme of festivities. It features amateur performers from the community centres in Topolovgrad, Ludi Mladi Cultural and Sports Association and a majorette group, who bring energy and good cheer to the celebrations.
The event attracts residents and visitors from near and far, some of whom come especially for the festival. Everyone shares the joy of the festive day and immerses themselves in the spirit of Bulgarian tradition. The programme concludes with a concert by a folk ensemble and long, winding Bulgarian circle dances on the square of Ustrem village. The festival is a symbol of unity, tradition and community spirit in the heart of the Sakar Mountains.
