The traditional Kyupek Bey ritual is part of the St Theodore’s Day celebrations in Levka village in Svilengrad Municipality. The traditions associated with this fertility festival have been recreated for many years by the amateur performers from Otets Paisiy 1925 Community Centre.
Küpek Bey involves a ceremonial visit to the village houses during the week. A carnival group takes part, featuring the main characters of the celebration accompanied by musicians.
