Oreshnik village

Oreshnik village lies in the Sakar Mountains, a region renowned for its vast pastures that sustain traditional livestock farming—the main livelihood of the local people. According to local legend, the original settlement of Oreshnik was located about two kilometres from its present site. After frequent outbreaks of disease and many deaths, the villagers sought the advice of a healer. He told them, "Set your oxen free, and wherever they stop, build your new village." The oxen stopped near two springs, and that is where the inhabitants resettled. The present-day village of Oreshnik has stood there ever since. These events are believed to have taken place in the early 17th century.
