The Painted Fountain

The Colourful Heart of Oresnik Village, Topolovgrad Municipality

In Oresnik village near Topolovgrad, one of the newest local attractions has come to life – the painted fountain, restored under a project of the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation, “Micro-wetlands – Source of Life for Wildlife and People”. The project focuses on restoring fountains and wetlands in order to protect biodiversity, support local agriculture and develop sustainable tourism.

The fountain combines traditional architectural heritage with an artistic vision, adorned with colours and nature-inspired motifs that tell stories about the village. It is not simply a place to stop and refresh – the painted fountain welcomes residents and visitors, creating a sense of community and connection with nature. This colourful heart has already become a favourite spot for walks, photographs and shared experiences, while also supporting the cause of protecting water resources in Oresnik and the Sakar region.
