The rock church near Mihalich village is entirely carved into limestone. It is unique in that it is the only church in Bulgaria with a triconch plan. Conches are an architectural element characteristic of built structures. In the Mihalich church, the conches and other architectural elements create the illusion of a masonry structure carved into the rock. It most likely dates from the 10th century.
