Thracian sanctuary Gluhite Kamani

A complex of several enormous rock blocks with hand-carved trapezoidal niches.

It was a sacred place that emerged during the Early Iron Age and was used by Thracians, Romans and Byzantines. It takes about two hours to visit the entire complex on foot. The trapezoidal openings carved into several prominent rocks are particularly interesting. Also of interest are the abraded rocks, which preserve traces of the active volcanic activity to which Gluhite Kamani was subjected. The tour ends with an ascent up a stone staircase to a panoramic viewpoint, where a water reservoir carved into the rock can be seen.

The parking area is next to the paved road between Malko Gradishte and Madzharovo. From there, a dirt forest road leads to the stairs in about 20 minutes, and the stairs lead to the beginning of the complex. From there, a trail winds through the forest and between the rocks, taking you past the most significant sites. At two points, panoramic views of Ivaylovgrad Reservoir open up.

In places, the trail is steep and slippery, and ropes have been secured between the trees to make the ascent easier. Nevertheless, be careful and do not underestimate the mountain.
