Rock tombs and dolmens are megalithic structures dating from the Thracian period. The tombs are carved into rock and have an entrance and a door made of a stone slab. They are associated with the religious beliefs and rituals of the Thracians and were very often used for burials. They are found across Europe, Asia and Africa. They date from the Bronze Age to the Late Iron Age.
The rock tomb in the Avdzhika (Evdzhika) locality was discovered and described by Georgi Bonchev in 1901. At that time, it still had a front slab with an opening, which has not survived to the present day. Typical ritual pits with channels can be seen on the rock above it.
