DESCRIPTION:Elhovo Municipality and the Razvitie – 1893 Community Cultural Centre organise the annual TUNDZHA SINGS AND DANCES FOLKLORE FESTIVAL\, held in the town of Elhovo on the weekend around 1 June. The festival is a competition and aims to preserve Bulgarian folk songs and dances – a source of the enduring strength of Bulgarian roots and spirit\, carrying the messages of national culture\; as well as to promote traditional folklore from along the Tundzha River and from the Thracian and Strandzha folklore regions. Performances are evaluated by a jury of specialists in the field. During these days\, Elhovo becomes a host to singers\, dancers and instrumentalists from across the country. Audiences and participants witness performances by professional and amateur Bulgarian folklore artists\, the authenticity passed down from generation to generation\, and the beauty and colourful variety of the rich traditional costumes from the Elhovo region.
