DESCRIPTION:The National Youth Thracian Gathering at Ilieva Niva\, also known as the Day of the Thracian Child\, is held every year in the meadow in front of the Ilieva Niva Memorial Complex near Glumovo village. It is organised on the first Saturday of June by the Union of Thracian Associations in Bulgaria and Ivaylovgrad Municipality. The Day of the Thracian Child is one of the most significant events in the Eastern Rhodopes and the Ivaylovgrad region. It expresses reverence for the value of children’s lives as a symbol of the nation’s future. The event includes a prayer\, poetry readings and commemorative songs. With each passing year\, Ilieva Niva becomes an increasingly important venue for cultural performances by descendants of Thracian Bulgarians and their children from across the country.\n\nThe official programme is accompanied by a range of cultural activities focused on children. One of the highlights is the children’s gathering\, where songs\, dances\, sports competitions and contests give children an opportunity to celebrate life and happiness\, responding to war and death with creativity\, energy and smiles.
